This morning, I was reminded again of the deep, invisible bond we share with horses—a connection built on energy, trust, and presence. A client had called me in to help with their horse, who had been struggling to get on the float. The horse was hesitant, nervous, and completely ungrounded. His owners had tried everything they could think of, but he just wouldn’t budge.
When I arrived, I didn’t jump straight into action. Instead, I spent time observing, tuning into his energy, and syncing up with him. Working in this way isn’t about forcing the horse to do something; it’s about creating an energetic space where the horse feels safe enough to make the choice themselves.
As I stood there, breathing deeply and softening my energy, I could feel the horse start to respond. His nervousness gradually gave way to curiosity, and his energy became less scattered. He started taking small steps forward, his trust building with each one. Within half an hour, I had guided him onto the float, but what was most rewarding was that his owners could then load him themselves. He trusted them because, in that short time, we had built a bridge of understanding.
This is what I love about working with horses through energy. It’s not just about getting them to do something; it’s about fostering a relationship where both horse and human are in tune with each other. When you focus on the energetic exchange between you and the horse, it opens the door to deeper communication and understanding.
I’ve seen it time and time again—when we meet horses where they are energetically, magic happens. They begin to mirror our calmness, our trust, and our intentions. Horses are such sensitive beings, and they can feel even the smallest shifts in our energy. That’s why it’s so important to approach them with mindfulness and presence.
In my work, whether it’s Equine Groundwork, Reiki, or Equine Attunement, I focus on this subtle energy exchange. It’s not about "fixing" a horse or teaching them to obey commands—it’s about aligning our energy with theirs, creating a space where they feel safe and connected. Once that trust is established, the possibilities for partnership and growth are endless.
This morning’s session reminded me of the beauty and simplicity of energy work with horses. It’s not about control; it’s about creating harmony. And when we’re in harmony with our horses, incredible things happen—whether it’s something as simple as loading into a float or something much deeper, like healing emotional wounds that we may not even realise exist.
Horses teach us so much about the power of energy. They are, after all, creatures who live completely in the present moment, and they invite us to do the same. When we tune into their energy, we’re not just helping them—we’re healing ourselves, too.
So, the next time you’re with your horse, take a moment to stop, breathe, and feel the energy between you. You might be surprised by what unfolds.
“Horses lend us the wings we lack.” — A quote that speaks to the heart of what working with horses in this way means to me.
If you're curious about exploring this connection with your own horse or one of mine, I’d love to help guide you on that journey. Whether through Equine Attunement, Reiki, or our more practical groundwork sessions, the focus is always on building a harmonious and trusting relationship with these magnificent beings.
